Photographs

A chain of events precedes and follows on during the creation of each photograph, each one involving my own active initiation/participation. The clear and dramatic action of a large analogue camera is an event in itself.

In some of the newer photos the figure gets some autonomy, in the others she's merged and integrated into a pictorial conglomeration, sometimes delineating some kind of process or narrative.

The photographs are all analogue, and are darkroom printed by hand on high quality fibre-based silver gelatin photo-paper, by Thom Puckey himself.

No digital techniques are used.

There is no digital post-production.

Each is in an edition of 5 + 2 artist's proofs in the size mentioned (the exact sizes can vary a few millimeters), signed and numbered and with a certificate of authenticity. The photographs are also purchasable on paper-sizes 24 x 30,5 cm and 50 x 60 cm.

Please note: the photos you see here are digital photos or scans from the original analogue prints. As Bill Brandt also said: the photo is in the print, nowhere else. To really know my photos, you must see and experience the prints, their tonality, their contrast, their size, their texture, and so on. The digital versions only give an indication of the truth. The truth is to be found in the prints, in the prints only.
