Commissioned by the City of Den Haag, as part of the 'beeldengalerij', an initiative of the artist Peter Struycken. Unusual in my work, I portray a scene from the book 'Eline Vere' by the 19th century Dutch novelist Louis Couperus. Eline's ecstatic death from opium pills, clutching the photo of her loved-one, attached to her necklace.
